ONE of my best friends, Paulina, was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was only 32 and pregnant with her second child. She has the most moving portrait in the Scar project exhibit at David Jones at the moment.
Paulina talks about the picture representing optimism for her — what you must do to survive and also to build awareness that young women are affected by breast cancer too.
I remember when she rang me and told me, it was like my sister being diagnosed. With her family I tried to support her through the whole process of having her breast removed and chemo. She had these two gorgeous little boys who needed their mum.
